Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about employment

- How long does job application
take?
It takes approximately 3-5 months from time of application
to the time of commencement of employment.
- What are the processes and
procedures of applying with Star Cruises?
- To apply with Star Cruises, you need
to either apply online with First Alliances website or apply
in person in our HoChiMinh City office
- Upon receiving your application, our
consultants will contact you to arrange for screening interview
and to sit for the required mathematic and English tests to
ensure you satisfy the Star Cruises’ Crew Selection
Criteria.
- Qualified candidates will be invited
for final interview with Star Cruises’ visiting recruitment
representatives.
- Successful candidates will proceed to
“documentation processing”, which include medical
examination certification, satisfactory completion of SOLAS
(Safety Of Life At Seas) and other required courses, securing
Seaman Book, Passport and airticket. First Alliances will
provide candidates with full assistance in the whole process)
- Upon completing above mentioned documentation,
candidates will be deployed to commence employment at Star
Cruises’ notification.
- How much is the expected monthly
salary?
The table below provides an indication of expected average monthly
income (net of tax). Please note, individual’s pay will
depend on individual’s job type, seniority and performance.

- How long is each employment contract?
Each employment contract will be for a term of 10 months with
2 months of leave. Subject to the Company’s satisfactory
of your employment performance; your employment will be renewed
by the Company at the end of your 10 months employment contract
and return to work at the end of your leave.
As a matter of information, currently there are many Vietnamese
staff who are serving their 4th and 5th contracts and have attained
supervisor and assistance manager positions.
- Does Star Cruises provide meals and
accommodation?
Yes, your meals and accommodation will be provided onboard.
- If I join Star Cruises, which
country will I be working in?
Star Cruises has cruise operation throughout world. However, generally,
majority of Vietnamese crew are employed for its Asia cruise operations,
namely Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Korea.
- Will Star Cruises provide
me any training?
Star Cruises will provide you with full and comprehensive on-job
training and you will entitle to full salary during your training
period.
- Can I contact my family in Vietnam
while working for Star Cruises?
You will be able to contact your family by IDD calls or emails
during your shore leave (while the ship is in port). Most ships
are equipped with satellite internet connection which allows you
to send emails onboard to your family and friends.
In the case of emergency, First Alliances will provide you with
the necessary assistance to contact your family or vice versa.
